In an event dubbed Expo Indonesia en Mexico 2023, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) of Indonesia is promoting the country’stourist destinations.

To mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Mexico and Indonesia, the Expo Indonesia en Mexico 2023, with the theme “Reconnecting and Showcasing Wonderful Indonesia in the American Market,” took place in Centro de Convenciones, Mexico, from August 3–6.

Through the exhibition, the ministry is making it easier for members of the domestic tourism industry to meet Mexican travel agencies, perform business matching activities, and advertise tour packages to Indonesia’s tourism attractions, particularly its five super priority tourism destinations (DPSPs).

“Kemenparekraf is also supporting an art team comprising Indonesian diaspora in the American region to perform at the event,” Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated in a press release received in Jakarta on Sunday.

The government is attempting to maximize the exhibition to highlight Wonderful Indonesia, the nation’s national tourism brand, in the aim of reinforcing it as a top brand, according to the ministry’s Deputy of Marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini.

“To that end, we disseminate information to the public on the development of tourist destinations in Indonesia as well as make adjustments to the current trends and needs of tourists,” she pointed out.

The American region is a prospective market for Indonesia’s tourism industry, according to statistics released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2022, with the average spending of tourists from the region reported at US$2,248 per visit.Additionally, American visitors stay in Indonesia for an average of 17 nights.

She also mentioned how Mexican visitors enjoy taking part in outdoor adventure activities like seeing mountains and craters on the Java and Bali islands and witnessing orangutans on Kalimantan Island.

Kemenparekrafin collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Mexico City, the Ministry of Investment, and the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) organised the exhibition.
