ITPN President backs separate tourism ministry

Abiodun Odusanwo, the National president, Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria, has supported the request for the Bola Tinubu government to make a separate tourism ministry that would help to boost
up the weak economy of the country.


Odusanwo mentioned this when he talked to the newsmen at the Abuja head office of the institute, highlighting the fact that tourism stays as one of the most practical non-oil alternatives that is able of restore the financial system.


He stated that the sector encourages development in regard to the revenue generation, opportunities related to employment, earnings in terms of foreign exchange, taxation, and has a multiplier impact on the rest of the financial system.


Globally, according to him, tourism remains as one of the greatest sectors contributing to the financial system of majority of countries, accounting for considerable income generation and earnings in terms of foreign exchange.


He also stated that Nigeria can do well if essential credit and attention are granted and turning it into a viable cost-effective venture that is able to create massive job opportunities and eradicate poverty.


He stated that the Renewed Hope program of the present administration, tourism justifies for a good position in the hunt of an economy that’s non-oil based to bring the country out of the woods.
